Troubleshooting

Commonly, Apple Mail will auto-select the user’s SSL and port number settings. If you are receiving errors after correctly setting up your email, follow these steps to ensure your SLL and port number settings are correct:

  1. Click Mail from the menu bar.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Select the account you wish to edit from the Accounts Column. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. From the Advanced Tab, you will be able to modify the SSL and authentication settings.
  5. Ensure the following things:
If you select the check box Use SSL, enter the port as 995
If you unselect the Use SSL check box, enter the port as 110
  6. Alternatively, if the issue you are getting is regarding a full mailbox, the mailbox settings regarding message deletion can be found above the SSL and Port number settings.
