My top online SEO analysis tools

Find out how to get a quick online report of ranking factors for your website.

Getting your head around Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) can be pretty tricky. There are so many different parts that make up a website and a bunch of different factors that determine how your site rankings on search engines such as Google.

Luckily, there are plenty of online tools that do all the hard work for you. All you have to do is pop in your website’s URL and in one click you will get a handy report listing what your website is doing right and what it is doing wrong.

From there, you can attempt to fix any issue yourself or you can get an SEO specialist to fix these issues for you.

Here are some of the best online tools I have come across:

6. SEOptimer

SE Optima is a quick, easy, no fuss tool for getting a fast report on over 20 ranking factors. The tools is 100% free and provides you with a downloadable report in PDF format that also lists issues that require attention. Unfortunately it is not as comprehensive as some of the other tools but is handy to scan the basics.

5. Website Grader by HubSpot

Website Grader is an easy to use and beautiful looking tool that will give you a quick score out of 100 for your website, broken up into four main areas being Performance, Mobile, SEO and Security. While it doesn’t check many factors for SEO it provides in-depth explanations for each via links to blog articles.

4 . SEO Centro Analyser

SEO Centro’s analyser is a nice little tool that provides a report on around 35 ranking factors. The report will give you an overall SEO score out 100 but also a speed score out of 100. The tools itself seems to feature quite an old design which makes me wonder whether it is up to date with modern SEO factors however it is still pretty comprehensive in terms of the issues it scans. The site is also hosted in the USA, so if your website is on an Australian server it will (unfairly) be marked down on server response time.

3. Woo Rank

Woo Rank is a pretty comprehensive SEO tool that will scan over 30 factors the affect your website ranking, letting you know items that have passed, items that are to be improved and items that need urgent attention. The report is laid out quite nicely and clicking on each factor reveals more information on how to fix issues which is pretty handy. Unfortunately, you have to sign up for a paid account to download a PDF copy. Pricing starts a pretty hefty $49 USD per month.  Guest can do up to 10 scans in 24 hours and they also have a free 14 day trial.

2. Site Analyzer

Site Analyzer is an excellent online tool for SEO website testing, scanning 49 ranking factors. It gives you a total score out of 100, but also gives you sub scores for Optimisation, Content, Design, Performance and Accessibility. The only thing that is annoying is that you are required to sign up for a free 3 day trial before you receive your results. This allows you full access, including downloading a PDF report, but requires a paid account after the trial period ends which start at $29.90 USD per month.

1. SEO Site Checkup – Recommended!

SEO Site Checkup would have to be my favourite of the lot. Not only does it scan 49 ranking factors, but it is also easy to read and visually pleasing. Like most of the other tools, the report will give you a score out of 100 and a break down of which factors you need to pay attention to. You will also be provided with information on anything that fails the check or is marked as warning. Once the report is completed you can also email or download a copy in PDF format straight from the site.

The only issue is that you can only perform one check per day. If you signup for a free account you can do a total of 15 checks before you are required to signup for a paid plan, which start at reasonable $19.95 USD per month.
